Benefits Of Using A Mask In Your Weekly Routine

Benefits of Using a Mask in Your Weekly Routine

Think back to the last facial you had…

Did your esthetician use a face mask? Or two? I’m guessing the answer is “yes.” It’s pretty standard for us esthis to use masks on clients because of all the amazing benefits they can offer to any skin-type…

And the best part about this is that you can use an at-home face mask to achieve those results, anytime you want.

WHY should YOU use a face mask?

Adding a face mask to your weekly skin routine has so many benefits. Not only are you hydrating your skin and helping to unclog your pores of impurities, you are giving yourself a mini facial (especially when you exfoliate beforehand) and you are carving out a little time to do something extra, just for yourself!

Create a little spa ritual with it by pouring yourself some tea and relaxing while it works its magic. Or, if you are short on time, apply it before you get in the shower or brush your teeth and rinse it off when you are finished. Face masks will immediately boost your weekly routine, no matter where you fit it in!

A mask is another vehicle to add to your routine, similar to a moisturizer or serum, to deliver “active ingredients” and improve the appearance or quality of the skin.

WHEN should YOU use a face mask?

My recommendation is to use a mask two times per week, and if you end up using it once a week, no sweat! Maybe you feel like you don’t have time to treat this as a luxurious, at-home event—so then mask while you multitask! You could be doing your daily routine, whatever that me be, while your face is getting a pampering of its own.

HOW do YOU use a face mask?

  1. Cleanse your skin to remove any dirt and grime from your face. This ensures that the active ingredients can penetrate the skin and give you the best results.
  2. Gather a nickel size amount of the mask and spread a thin layer on damp skin with the tips of your fingers. All of my masks double as exfoliants so feel free to massage the product on your skin for 30 seconds to a minute before letting it set.
  3. Leave on for 10-15 minutes.
  4. Rinse with warm water and finish off with your daily regimen!

WHICH face mask should YOU use?

There are millions of different masks out there, but I recommend choosing one that targets your skin type or concerns:

Oily/Combination/Normal

Look for a deep pore cleansing mask with deep purifying clays to help absorb excess oils from the surface of the skin, such as my REFINE or REVIVE masks.

Sensitive/Dry

This skin type benefits from a mask that will keep the skin balanced while bringing moisture to dry areas. I’d recommend using a mask that will gently exfoliate dry skin and soften that the same time, such as my SERENITY mask.
