All the Goods on Facial Acupuncture

Happy Wednesday!
This is a big week people- a BIG week. Does anyone else feel this sort of unsettled or uneasy feeling? I definitely do.. Our country is in desperate need of change and let's just all hope that it goes smoothly. It's unfortunate that there is even the chance that it may not, but alas- it is no surprise considering the past four years. There is so much healing, unification and repair that lies ahead and I am so ready for it. We need this.
Today's blog is actually going to be about skincare. SO crazy, right?! It was inspired by an incredible treatment I had this week with Soul and Lune Wellness. Let's start with the fact that I haven't done any self care outside of my house in well over a year (aside from one haircut), so I probably could have laid down in any dark room, on a warm bed, with soothing music and been over the moon. However, this exceeded my expectations. I had no idea how much I needed this.
The service I had was facial acupuncture and it was by a dear friend of mine's daughter- Hannah Jefferson. Facial acupuncture is an extension of traditional acupuncture, which I have had before, but never on the face. You might ask why you would want to lay quietly with tons of needles in your face (which by the way do not hurt- even in the slightest.) Well- I will share some of what I learned from this amazing practitioner.
Facial acupuncture is a treatment for both the inside of the body, as well as the outside. I have mentioned before that we often ignore or disregard the glaring signs that our body gives us when it needs us to slow our roll or take better care of ourselves and those signs can often show up on our face. Due to the fact that this treatment is not just addressing just cosmetic needs, it actually boosts the skin's overall health and can ease tension/stress within the body.
How this all works is the needles are strategically placed throughout the face and puncture the skin which cause tiny, little micro-traumas. When your body senses this, it goes into repair mode which means it sends extra collagen and blood flow to those areas This is what helps to repair and soften the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The punctures also stimulate your lymphatic and circulatory system which work together to nourish your skin from the inside out.
This treatment uses needles throughout the body and specifically targeted points on the face and ears that aid in mental clarity, relaxation, and rejuvenation. It is often referred to as a safer and healthier alternative to surgery, Botox or fillers because it can soften fine lines and give a more firm/tightened look to the skin.
One of the many things I found fascinating about this treatment is that the needles are strategically placed in the feet, as well a few other points throughout the body, to help support a full flow of energy so that you don't experience a surge in the face. It was a light bulb moment for me, because when I treat clients for a facial, I am focusing solely on the upper body. So, for all of you clients that are reading this and come to me for treatments, know that in the future, I will make sure to keep that flow going throughout the body by giving some attention to the those feet!
To round off this treatment, she finished off with facial cupping and cold rose quartz Gua Sha. This was the icing on the cake!! It was heavenly.
As with most alternative treatments, this is not a quick fix. You definitely will notice your skin has a more energized, healthy look and feel after one treatment, but if you are looking to do some deeper work on your skin, you would want to set up weekly appointments for a set period of time. Again though, it is still cheaper and safer for your body and so healthy for your mind and soul. I highly recommend it!
Today's quote is one that applies to acupuncture and life:
"Where there is no movement, there is pain.
Where there is movement, there is no pain."
-Traditional Chinese Saying
As always, thank you for reading.
