It's Time To Respect Your Skin

It's Time To Respect Your Skin

Happy Wednesday!

I am writing this on my birthday (a lucky 7s baby”- born on 7/7/77!!) so I am lucky enough to be celebrating another trip around the sun. I have always joked that I would perhaps win the lottery or have some sort of extra luck with all of those “7s” around me. I would say that so far, I have been lucky in life, which to me is far better than winning the lottery :)

RFE Products

I am finally ready to divulge what I have been working on behind closed doors to expand my product line. I have always talked about the one product you can add to your regimen that would make a significant difference....and that is a serum!! Up until now, I have had the fabulous Adore Serum in my lineup and I will be adding a few more by the end of this summer, so stay tuned!

What is a Serum and Why Should You Use One?

A serum is a product that you can apply to your skin after you cleanse, but before you put on your moisturizer/sunscreen. A serum is made up of smaller molecules which allows the ingredients to penetrate deeply into the skin. This means it can target specific skincare concerns and enhance your results.

Serums can vary in consistency- from water/gel based to oil- but they differ from a moisturizer in that creams and lotions are richer and help to create a barrier on top of this skin- to seal all that goodness in.

Adding a serum to your regimen has so many benefits- ranging from lightening scarring/pigmentation, hydrating dry skin, clearing up breakouts, or re-building the skin’s barrier in sensitized skin. Either way, a serum is the best way to take your skincare regimen to the next level.

Respect Your Skin

Over the past few months, I have tried to make time to listen to more podcasts and most recently, I have been watching/listening to the Natural Beauty Summit focusing on detoxing your beauty regimen (and life).

Throughout these interviews, I have learned about SO many companies out there doing incredible things. One interview I listened to was with a packaging company. This company is really taking the industry by storm by replacing bottles and tubes and everything in between, with eco-friendly, sustainably sourced and biodegradable packaging.

Unfortunately, the beauty industry is seriously guilty of filling up our landfills with sample sizes, plastics, and all of the other things that take wayyyy too long to break down. It seems as though brands are starting to wake up and realize that they have to change because consumers are paying attention and want to be part of the change. The people buying these products would rather see something be healthier for our planet than look pretty in their medicine cabinet.

Another interview that really hit home for me was a doctor that spoke about how people don’t respect their skin, the largest organ of the body, like they do all of the other organs in their bodies. They drink their smoothies, exercise, take supplements, read, do crossword puzzles, etc.- to keep all of their organs, their mind and bodies, as a whole, in tip top shape. Then they slather their skin with whatever they can find, as a last minute attempt to do “something for their skin” before they fly out the door and start their day, or go to sleep.

Hopefully, those of you reading this don’t fall into that category, but let’s be real- there have been times in the past that I was guilty of this. Would we rub just anything on our heart? Our lungs? Our liver? Probably not. If you alter your mindset to see that caring for your skin, is about respecting your skin, you might think twice about skipping your nighttime regimen or not paying attention to what you are using in your daily routine.

Today’s quote is “birthday inspired” and is simple but so true.

“Don’t just count your years, make your years count.”
- George Meredith

As always, thank you for reading.

With so much gratitude,
